Bio-Innovative Pretreatment of Coarse Wool Fibers

نویسندگان

چکیده

From the textile manufacturers’ point of view, coarse and medullated fibers are undesirable in production fine woolen materials, but highly desirable textiles yarns with special effects, especially carpet production. For sustainability, entire sheep fleece should be used, including fibers. The raw wool must scoured to obtain clean without damage or excessive fiber entanglement, a certain moisture content, low dirt content residual grease for further processing, proper color. In order remove impurities maximum efficiency, save energy minimize environmental impact, this study investigated changes some properties during scouring process due effect enzyme complex on effects were studied through amount within fleece, diameter Conventional bleached an unconventional bleaching agent, percarbonate, compared hydrogen peroxide achieve higher whiteness brilliant color minimal property changes. after determined based sorption dyes parameters. bio-innovative pretreatment percarbonate resulted excellent even wool. SEM analysis was performed confirm these results. Taking into account sustainability protection, recommended as processes

Saffron Petals, a by-product for dyeing of wool fibers ‎

The dyeing of wool fibers using saffron petals as a natural dye has been studied for first time in this paper. Saffron petal is one of the by-products of fields which are thrown away after harvesting while they can possibly be used. A series of dyeing formulation prepared with saffron petals and different mordants and the mordant effect on hue, light and wash fastness of dyed fibers were invest...

Properties of radicals formed by the irradiation of wool fibers.

Wool fibers of different sample conditions were irradiated in different atmospheres by (60)Co gamma-rays and were studied by electron spin resonance method (ESR). It was found that a large percentage of the alpha-carbon radicals of polymer main chain were more long-lived radicals. The ESR measurements of irradiated cortex samples of the wool fibers proved that most radicals from the cortex were...

Treatment of Wool Scouring Wastewater by Immobilized Chitosan Bio-Membrane

A Chitosan/sucrose/polyurethane composite bio-membrane was prepared by the facile drop coating method. The composite bio-membrane had a porous spongy structure composed of a physical mixing of each component. The water absorbability of the composite bio-membrane increased with increasing chitosan and sucrose contents. Furthermore, the composite bio-membrane with immobilized Aspergillus sojae ex...

Highly extensible bio-nanocomposite fibers.

Here, we show that a poly(ethylene oxide) polymer can be physically cross-linked with silicate nanoparticles (Laponite) to yield highly extensible, bio-nanocomposite fibers that, upon pulling, stretch to extreme lengths and crystallize polymer chains. We find that both, nanometer structures and mechanical properties of the fibers respond to mechanical deformation by exhibiting strain-induced cr...
